More than 70 communicators, media ministry leaders, and church members gathered at the Asia Seventh-day Adventist Church in South Manchester, Jamaica, on May 31,2026 for a communications training workshop aimed at strengthening the Church’s ability to share the gospel through digital media and support the worldwide One Voice 27 communication initiative.

Held under the theme “Connecting the Message, Media, and Mission,” the one-day event provided practical training in communication, branding, storytelling, digital evangelism, and media production, equipping participants to communicate the Adventist message more effectively in an increasingly digital world.

“This workshop was organised to strengthen the communication capacity of our local churches and prepare communicators to engage more effectively in today’s digital landscape,” said Brendon Coleman, one of the workshop organisers. “Our goal is to ensure that church communicators are equipped not only with technical skills but also with a clear understanding of how communication advances mission.”
A central focus of the training was the General Conference’s One Voice 27 initiative, which seeks to unite Seventh-day Adventists worldwide in sharing the gospel with clarity and consistency across multiple communication platforms simultaneously.

During his presentation on church identity and branding, Pastor Jonathan Myrie, communication director for the Jamaica Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, challenged participants to embrace the initiative as part of a coordinated global effort.
“One Voice 27 challenges us to communicate with clarity, consistency, and purpose as we share the Adventist message across every platform and territory,” Myrie said.

The workshop featured presentations from communication and media professionals covering a range of ministry-focused topics, including news writing and storytelling, graphic design, audio production, live streaming, digital discipleship, and media ministry development.
In his devotional message, Dr. Immanuel Paul, pastor of the Asia Seventh-day Adventist Church, encouraged participants to view digital ministry as an essential component of contemporary evangelism.

“Digital ministry allows us to reach individuals beyond the walls of our churches and connect with people where they are,” Paul said. “Every communicator has a role to play in advancing the gospel through these platforms.”
Participants travelled from several parishes, including Manchester, Clarendon, St. Catherine, and Kingston, reflecting growing interest in communication ministry throughout Jamaica.
Among those attending was Luechen Christopher, communication secretary of the Mandeville Seventh-day Adventist Church, who said the workshop provided practical skills that can be immediately applied in local church ministry.

“My primary goal for attending this workshop was to improve my audio engineering skills and help my teammates effectively use the audio equipment at my church,” Christopher said. “I plan to use what I learned to enhance the worship experience, strengthen digital evangelism, and create more engaging content through improved graphic design and branding.”
The programme concluded with hands-on training sessions in live production, audio engineering, and graphic design, allowing participants to apply the concepts presented throughout the day.

Organisers expressed hope that the training will serve as a catalyst for stronger communication ministries across local congregations as the Church continues to expand its digital outreach and prepare for greater participation in the global One Voice 27 initiative.
