President of the Inter-American Division (IAD) of Seventh-day Adventists (SDA), Pastor Abner De Los Santos, called for personal participation in the church’s mission as he greeted congregants at the ‘Countdown to the End' evangelistic series in Mandeville on Sabbath, May 9.

De Los Santos said proclaiming that Jesus is coming soon is the reason for the series which runs from May 3 to 30 under the tent in the Mandeville SDA Church parking lot on Caledonia Road. He noted that the effort is in keeping with the evangelistic thrust of the world church.

“The owner of the mission is God. We as a church participate with God in mission because He wants all people around the world and here in Jamaica to know Him so they can decide what way they will do with Him. And then He will come again to take us home,” De Los Santos said.

He commended the speaker, international evangelist Dr. Shion O’Connor, for allowing God to use him as a conduit of the hope which the world needs.

Also joining in the worship service was Dr. Michael Owusu, president of the Southeastern Conference of SDAs, which serves congregations across Florida and parts of Georgia in the United States of America. He was accompanied by his wife, Brenda.

Owusu thanked president of the Jamaica Union of SDAs, Pastor Glen Samuels, who was also present, for mentoring him as a ministerial student at the then West Indies College, now Northern Caribbean University (NCU).

President of the Central Jamaica Conference of SDAs (CJC), Pastor Nevail Barrett, welcomed his colleagues in ministry to worship and fellowship along with those gathered.

The visiting presidents would later attend the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected Jamaica Union administration held at NCU.

The ‘Countdown to the End’ series comes during the 65th year of ministry of the CJC. The messages  highlight key Seventh-day Adventist doctrines and answer questions about Bible prophecy, the present day and the future of the world.

Meetings are held Sunday to Wednesday and Friday at 7:00 pm and on Sabbaths starting at 9:00 am.

Live streams and past meetings from the series can be viewed on the Central Jamaica Conference YouTube channel.
