Ten
students and two parents sealed their decision to follow Christ days
after the bi-annual Week of Prayer Session held at the Willowdene
Group of Schools recently. The historical ceremony was conducted at
the Family of God Seventh-day Adventist Church on Wednesday November
14, 2007 under the watch of scores of students, parents and staff.
The recent Week of Prayer Session was hosted by Pastors Kevin
Danvers and Ramone Phoenix. Pastor Danvers led the High School
Division under the theme, “Vessel of Honor” and Pastor Phoenix led
out in the Preparatory and Early Childhood Departments under the
theme, “The Potter’s House”.

No
one would have imagined the impact of the meeting on the students.
Both speakers presented a series of life-changing messages outlining
the power of God in transforming lives.
Pastor Danvers was especially compelling as he stirred the high
school students with Scriptural truths and synopses of his life. He
revealed that he was abandoned by both parents at six months old and
left without a name or means of identification. But that did not
deter him from choosing to follow Christ.

“When
your mother and father have forsaken you, Jesus will take you up,”
he encouraged the students.
He further illustrated how Jesus can transform one’s life when given
the opportunity and the students were moved by this fact over and
over. Pastor Everett Brown, President of CJC and chairman of the
board, attended the ceremony and in his remarks he reiterated the
objective of Christian Education.
“We are committed to the total development of the students. We
believe in the delivery of sound academic skills and allowing the
students to respond to the voice of the Holy Spirit and commit their
lives to God,” Pastor Brown said.
Pastor Danvers addressed the candidates and the title of his charge
was, “It’s A Miracle”. He reminded them that God specializes in
giving people a new lease on life and He has a way of taking the
rejected and changing them.

The
candidates included students from both Preparatory and High School.
The parents who were baptized are Mr. and Mrs. John Hinds, parents
of five students attending the Willowdene Group of Schools.
