Wildwood Hospital Mission Trip


Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists was host to the Wildwood Hospital Missionary group out of Wildwood Florida, USA. The group comprised of 13 members. Two trained pastors, Two Chefs- one a student just graduated from the wildwood institute, a trained RN and nutritionist, and the others were recent graduates from the wildwood institute for medical missionaries.

The group arrived on Sunday, December 10, 2006 and was accommodated at 90 Brunswick Avenue, Spanish Town, Catherine.

Their schedule included workshops at Spanish Town SDA –Monday and Tuesday –a number of health topics and demonstration were done. The attendees wanted them to share with them some more but it was impossible because of time.

On Wednesday they went out into the community of Monk Streek and shared with the citizens on healthful issues this was very fulfilling and satisfying were the comments of the Missionaries. Wednesday night they conducted the service at Spanish town and again shared with the members and visitors on health issues.

Thursday they joined us at Camp Verly for the commencement of Camp Meeting. Friday morning Herschel Henley along with other team members, were early at camp to conduct the exercise classes. This was very refreshing and rewarding to the campers. Later in the day the group participated in a presentation to the campers. The main presenter was Mrs. Carol Bearce coordinator for the program. She had some members of the group demonstrating aspect of a health expo and how it should be conducted.

On Sabbath the group took the divine service at Spanish Town church. The speaker was Pastor Derrick Hamilton and later they participated in the pageant emphasizing how the health message can be a part of tell the world.

Sunday, December 17, 2006 was a big day for the group. They started the campers’ day with exercise and by 10a.m. they began what was a successful health expo, at the St. Johns SDA church ground. This was well attended by the members and none members. They attended well over 250 people and had to close with some not being able to get through.

Monday, December 18, they were on the road again in Clear Park visiting the communities around the Church and inviting them to the evening session on of cooking class. This was well attended. Tuesday they were taken on a tour to the North Course for recreation purpose. Wednesday They again joined the Clear Park Members at worship and again shared many helpful concepts on health issues. . Thursday, December 21 was their departure day. They left Jamaica truly blessed and with the desire to return and continue to share in other areas.
