At a meeting of the West
Indies Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Executive
Committee held on Tuesday May 29, 2007, Chairman Pastor Patrick
Allen advised the members that our Union was selected to host
Pentecost and More for 2008.
This followed a decision of the Inter-American Division (IAD) at its
mid-year meetings held on May 8, 2007 in Montemorelos University,
Nuevo Leon, Mexico to make Pentecost and More a yearly event
following the success of this year’s event which saw a record 48,000
baptised in the IAD in a single day on March 24, 2007.
Pastor Allen, who is president of the Adventist church in West
Indies Union is very excited about the prospects the programme.
“West Indies Union is honoured to host Pentecost and More in 2008.
Our interest and record in evangelism is legendary, we are already
at the front of the battle under orders to charge. The hosts of hell
must retreat so that God’s Kingdom of love and grace is fully
established. Our church in this Union will surely be revived as it
participates in this initiative,” he enthused.
The main purpose for the continuation of the programme is to
motivate our members to keep the spirit of evangelism and church
growth at the forefront of their activities in the Inter-American
Division territory.
The Pentecost and More 2008 is scheduled to be held on March 15,
2008 in Kingston, Jamaica under the theme “Many Cultures One Faith”.
A rally to launch it will take place on July 11, 2007 at the
Mandeville Church in Manchester, Jamaica.
Pastor Israel Leito, President of the Inter-American Division will
be the main speaker at the nucleus site in Kingston. The service
will be broadcast live by satellite and down-linked in various sites
across the Division. Hope TV, 3ABN and other television networks
will carry the historic moments live.
