September 1, 2007 marked the official day when Central Jamaica
Conference had to say farewell to Pastor George Williams and Mr.
Jasper Burke.
Pastor George Williams served in the East Jamaica Conference before
joining Central Jamaica Conference, where he pastored the Braeton
and then Old Harbour Districts of Churches. He has appeared in
programmes on Bless Television, and according to Pastor Williams,
the time spent with CJC has been rewarding.

“The
ministry has been exciting and it was a learning experience. I have
learnt that we are so different yet the same. People are people
wherever you go,” he said.
Pastor Williams is called to serve in the North Miami Seventh-Day
Adventist Church in Florida. This invitation was extended to him
following a crusade which he conducted at the church between October
and November last year.
“The conference officials were impressed with my ministry and I have
received many invitations to preach at the church since,” Pastor
Williams explained.
He also said that he enjoyed the experience there and he is looking
forward to serving the brethren faithfully in North Miami. He has
been replaced by Pastor Alton Williams.
Mr. Burke has been an ardent worker at Central Jamaica Conference
for approximately 17 years. He joined the conference in 2000 after
serving at the Willowdene Group of Schools as bursar for eleven
years. He was called to serve as an accountant in the Treasury
Department at CJC.
Mrs. Sandra Gayle, Children’s Ministries Director at West Indies
Union who was his former colleague, remembers him as worker of high
standards.

He
was a person who could be trusted to complete the assigned tasks, he
was multi-skilled (carpenter, painter, teacher, accountant and cook,
and he demonstrated that he knew God and was willing to trust Him to
provide the financial means to carry on,” she said in a tribute to
Mr. Burke.
Elder Burke will be continuing studies in the United States. He has
been replaced by Mr. Gregory Corrodus, former bursar at the
Willowdene Group of Schools.
