Central Jamaica Conference Appoints New Directors


The Executive Committee of Central Jamaica Conference on Wednesday February 11, 2009, voted to appoint Elder Anthony Gordon to serve as Family Ministries Director, Pastor Devon Champier to serve as Ministerial Director and Pastor Kemar Douglas to serve as Public Affairs and Religious Liberty Director. These appointments became necessary after the resignation of Pastor Orlando Patterson and Pastor Anthony Reid. The appointments became effective on February 11, 2009.

Pastor Everett Brown in commenting on the appointments stated that, based on the current circumstances and where we are in the Strategic Plan, the individuals were the best persons selected for the positions at this time.

Elder Anthony Gordon presently serves Central Jamaica Conference as Counselling Service Coordinator and Chaplin for the Willowdene Group of Schools. He brings to the office of Family Life Director experience and a wealth of knowledge in this area. The position of Family Life, Communication and Public Affairs Director was held by him for several years and he is well known throughout the Adventist community in Jamaica. He replaces Pastor Anthony Reid who served in that capacity from 2006 – 2009.

Pastor Devon Champier, the new Ministerial Director will continue to serve as Senior Pastor for the Cedar Grove District of Adventist Churches in Manchester. Pastor Champier has spent over nineteen years in ministry and has served the Central Jamaica Conference Ministerial Fraternity as President. He replaces Pastor Orlando Patterson who served in that capacity from 2006 – 2008.

Pastor Kemar Douglas presently serves Central Jamaica Conference as Associate Communication Director, a position he has held for over two years. He also serves as the ‘Follow the Bible’ Coordinator, Vice President of the Central Jamaica Conference Ministerial Fraternity and speaker/radio host for Morning Manna, Heralds of Hope and Lifeline aired on Love 101 FM. He replaces Pastor Anthony Reid.
