Central Jamaica
Conference continued its second leg of Convention 2009 at Mandeville
Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sunday, February 1, 2009. It was a
power-packed and Holy Spirit filled Pastor Joseph Smith, who was the
keynote speaker in the morning’s devotional exercise. Hearts were
blessed as hundreds of members of the churches within the parish of
Manchester could be seen filled with the Holy Spirit as they
consumed the Word of God. The members were all gathered to worship,
fellowship and celebrate the goodness of God in their lives and
their churches.
Pastor Everett Brown,
President of the Conference as well as Pastor Levi Johnson,
Secretary of the Conference, shared with the brethren the blessings
that the Lord has given to the Conference and urged the brethren to
remain faithful to God. They also highlighted certain initiatives
that the Conference will be undertaking this year and requested the
participation and cooperation of the members as they are
implemented.
Each Pastor serving in
the parish gave a brief report on the accomplishments harnessed
throughout the year 2008. They also sought to express their
gratitude to the Lord and the members for their dedication and
commitment in His service and urged them to continue to give of
their best to the Master.
The hearts of the
brethren were further blessed with the remaining devotional speakers
for the day. These individuals were Pastor Rohan Spencer (Comfort
Hall District) and Pastor Nathan Jackson (Royal Flat District).
There was an air of awe within the walls of the church as the Holy
Spirit used these shepherds in a mighty way to deliver the Word of
God.
Pastor Everett Smith,
Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Director of the Conference
could be seen in his elements thanking God for his blessings during
the 2008 Harvest & Ingathering Project. Once again the parish of
Manchester surpassed its goal of $955,471.00 with a smashing
increase of 54% standing at $1,468,249.00. The top ingatherers for
the parish were Bro. & Sis. Bertram Smith, members of the Fairfield
Mountain S.D.A. Church. They both collected some $32,700.00. The
most outstanding church however, was Inverness who was 458% above
their goal.
Having seen the wondrous
grace and blessings from the Lord, it is quite evident that all
members and our friends remain faithful to God as His promises are
sure.
