At
approximately 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2008, the Central
Jamaica Conference made landfall at the Mandeville S.D.A. Church
when it launched its first Convention for the year. Hundreds of
Seventh-day Adventist members flooded the power packed event where
Dr. Enell Hall, Vice President and Ministerial Secretary of the West
Indies Union raised the banner even higher in the devotional
segment. Being filled with the Holy Spirit Dr. Hall reminded us of
the importance of spending time studying God’s Words because as
saints of God our primary mission is to banish every trace of
darkness on earth and become the lightof the world.

He further went on to
elaborate that the current state of the church is like a sleeping
giant and as we are all geared up for Pentecost and More 2008, it is
essential that the church realizes its potential and wake up and
recognize the mission that God has given to His people here on
earth.
President of the Central Jamaica Conference, Pastor Everett Brown
then proceeded to highlight the strategic issues of the Conference
for the year 2008. The main goal however is to actively participate
in this year’s Pentecost and More experience. Several evangelistic
campaigns will be hosted throughout the Conference and each member
of the Church of God is to become actively involved in preparation
for this grand event, as the search goes on for precious souls to be
saved in the family of God. With this concept well implemented, it
is expected that a more personal relationship with God will be
developed, as the Word of God is shared enthusiastically to the
hopeless.

Other
dynamic devotional speakers at the Convention were Pastor Philbert
Rowe (Mike Town District of Churches) and Pastor Rodney Palmer (Spur
Tree District of Churches). These men of God lit the church with
fire from above filling the hearts of each member present with the
power of the Holy Spirit. Hearts were blessed and minds were touched
as we were reminded of what the power of God can do in our lives if
we just reach out by faith in Jesus.

As
the love of Christ continues to fill the hearts and minds of many,
let us as disciples of our Heavenly Father give ourselves
continually to prayer and the studying of the Word, as we seek to
find the lost within our Conference.
