Central Jamaican
Conference of Seventh day Adventist held its first Leaders’ Council
for the year 2007 on January 14, 2007 at Camp Verley. The central
Theme was “Sharing Words of Hope”.
The devotional exercise was chaired by Pastor Levi Johnson,
Executive Secretary and the devotional speaker was Pastor Noel S.
Fraser, former President of West Indies Union.
His emphasis was drawn from the book of Isaiah 53. Here he pointed
out the suffering Christ went through for us in order to secure our
salvation.
After devotion Pastor Everett E. Brown, President of Central Jamaica
Conference took the leaders in attendance through the strategic plan
of the conference and entertained questions from the leaders. Some
of the other areas of the leaders’ Council were; Role of
Elders/Leaders in the strategic Proposal, Role of Directors in the
strategic proposal.
Pastor Joseph Smith (Personal Ministries Director – WIU) made a
promotion on Pentecost and more, while Bro. Nigel Coke,
Communications Director of WIU made a promotion from his department.
Towards the end the days Program Dr. Vassel G Kerr Dept. Religion &
Theology, NCU made a presentation on Worship. This was well received
by all in attendance. The Meeting ended with the singing of the song
“We have this hope”, and Prayer for commitment to the work of God
was done. This was a successful meeting and attendance far exceeded
expectation.
