Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists said farewell
to Pastor Lorenzo King and family at a luncheon held on April 24,
2008. The function was planned in light of Pastor King accepting a
call to serve in the East Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day
Adventists effective May 1, 2008.
President of Central Jamaica Conference, Pastor Everett Brown,
stated that Pastor King “is an intelligent and committed pastor.
Whenever he relates to the congregations, workers or the public,
whatever he says is well thought through. He is often frank but
respectful.”
Pastor King was serving the Sydenham Pastoral District before his
call. During his thirteen years service to Central Jamaica
Conference he served the brethren at Mandeville, Browns Town and
Portmore Districts of Churches.
Secretary of Central Jamaica Conference, Pastor Levi Johnson, in his
opening remarks stated that, “Pastor King is making sure that the
statement in the policy book becomes applicable, that a minister is
ordained to the world church. I trust that he will give quality
service to the Lord and his church.”
Presentations were made on behalf of Central Jamaica Conference by
Elder Billy Watson (Treasurer of Central Jamaica Conference), the
Ministerial Fraternity by Pastor Devon Champier (President of the
Ministerial Fraternity) and the Shepherdess Club by Sis Orlando
Patterson.
Pastor Devon Champier, President of Central Jamaica Conference
Ministerial Fraternity, stated that, “The Fraternity appreciates the
contribution and support that he had given to Ministerial
Fraternity. We are indeed losing a good member but our doors are
still open and he is always welcome to attend our programmes.”
The presentations were followed by a tribute in song by a group from
the Ministerial Fraternity. The title of song, ‘Friends are Friends
Forever’ was indeed fitting for the occasion.

Pastor King in his response stated that, “Central Jamaica Conference
has been very kind to me. I have had the privilege to serve and
grow. This indeed is a great conference and I will miss the vibrant
Ministerial Fraternity.”
He went on to say that he had to answer the call, “This call to
serve in East Jamaica Conference, is a call of destiny. And in some
ways I feel like Jephthah, I have to go and fight for my Lord.”
Pastor Orlando Patterson, Ministerial Director of Central Jamaica
Conference and Chairman of the luncheon in closing stated, “I am
impress with the work Pastor King has done over the years and he is
a good man. We wish him all the best and pray that God will continue
to be with him and his family.”
