Glengoffe Seventh-day Adventist Church Celebrates its 100th anniversary




Theme: “Thus Far by Faith”

On Thursday the 29th of March 1906, a Seventh Day Adventist company was formed in the community of Glengoffe. Elders J.B. Beckner, George Enoch and J.A. Strickland formed a committee and elected new Officers, after reading the principles of the church. Some of the foundation members were: John Dacres, Adrian Gray, Robert Howell, Henrietha Lodge, Alfred Simmons, Joseph Rennalls, Isadore Rennalls, R.M. Rennalls, Chas West, James West, Isabel wood.

Two months later, May 09, 1906 a baptism was held and approximately five precious souls were added to the church. Namely Antoinette Green, Cordelia Terrelonge, W. Wood, A. Nelson and W. Lodge.

The company through the grace of God kept on growing and eventually organized into a church. Over the years, several Pastors pastored the church, namely: Pastors Woodburn, Grey, Fletcher, Holmes, McKenzie, Lewis, Campbell, Jefferson, Brown and Lobban.

Currently, there is an active pathfinder club at the church, this has been in existence since 1974 Under the leadership of by Sister Heather Grizzle.

In 1996 the original building was torn down and was reconstructed. Since then the church has grown and now has over 200 members. Today we can Say with confidence, we have come thus far by faith.
