This
week marks a significant milestone in the history of the Community
Services Department of Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day
Adventists in terms of disaster preparedness and emergency
management. The Conference is capping of the week’s activities with
a Disaster Preparedness Retreat at Camp Verley, Spring Gardens,
Jamaica, for all members of the Disaster Preparedness and Parish
Action Committee within the Conference.
The continually changing whether patterns and events which occur
world wide and regionally, only serve to reinforce the importance of
the function of the Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day
Adventists disaster preparedness, amidst the varied operational
duties that the conference is mandated to perform.
The destructive power of the most natural disaster is augmented
further, if people are found unprepared. As we embark on yet another
Hurricane Season, let us be mindful of our individual
responsibilities in order to safeguard our lives and property.
On behalf of the Officers, departmental directors and the wider
workforce of Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists,
let me take this opportunity to bring you greetings and hope for an
uneventful season, but likewise be prepared so as to minimize
negative or unavoidable incidents as we continue to strive for the
growth and development of our Conference in terms of disaster
preparedness
