Willowdene Group of Schools Receive High CXC Pass Rate

The Willowdene Group of Schools reopened in high celebration, as the news about the 2007 CXC results spread throughout the school.

The students sat examinations in twenty subject areas, and six received ten subjects. Twelve students received between seven and nine subjects, eight received six to seven subjects, fifteen received three to four subjects, while seven students received at least one subject .
Among the top performers were Lloyd Miller (10 of 10 subjects) Desiree Gyles (8 of 9 subjects) Chadrick Lindsay (8 of 8 subjects) and Sheldon Francis (9 of 9) subjects.

Mr. Tabannor, Principal of the Willowdene Group of Schools, commented that the level of performance in the exams was overwhelming.

“I am overwhelmed at the students’ performance. I expected good results because the teachers are working. The results were an unexpected blessing,” an elated Mr. Tabanor said.

He also added that the students’ performance serve as a means of motivation for the administration and staff, and greater results are anticipated next year because the school is committed to the steadfast fulfillment of the school curriculum requirements.

There were weak areas, however, such as Information Technology, Business and History. Mr. Tabanor said that the poor result in Information Technology in particular was anticipated because there are challenges in that department.

He confirmed that basic resources were provided for the running of the Information Science Department, but there are still areas to be reviewed. The general intention is to trace the root cause of failure and address it early during this school year, in order to maximize the output in next year’s examination.
